- So sorry to learn that Bob Einstein (1943-2018) has died. He was a key actor (playing the ornery Marty Funkhouser) on Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" a TV show that is dearly missed. Bob also created the character "Super Dave" and did parodies of stunts that usually wound up with him sustaining severe injuries. Bob Einstein's father, "Parkyakarkas" was one of my brother Alan's favourite movie comedy characters. My brother loved saying that name. The character was so obscure that it seemed like only my brother and I knew who he was. It was one of the things that created a special bond between us. I also learned the Bob Einstein had a brother whose name was Albert Einstein. Can you imagine? Albert decided it was too much and changed his name to Albert Brooks. He became (and still is a famous director, writer, and comic actor. Bob's style of comedy was one of the inspirations for comedy writer, director, actor, musician and magician Steve Martin, who describes Bob and British comedy actor and writer Eric Idle as his mentors.
